Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul.

Why Art Therapy?

From hundred thousand years ago, the soul of human being shined through the self-expression creative tender process called “Art”. Human being found Art, as a way to give external life to its inner source and to communicate to others inner universe. Art can become a dynamic meditation and bring awareness and leads to a self-discovery path. Through Art you can bring the thoughts and emotion to material level and observe them, along the time. The art therapy, let you to work on your spiritual qualities and document it visually.

The creative process involved in expressing one’s self artistically can help you to resolve issues as well as develop and manage your behaviors and feelings. Art can bring stillness and peace to your life, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and give you the feeling of complete expression. One of the beauties of art as therapy is freedom, there is no rule to govern the process, and it all often happens without the complication of words!

I offer Art therapy through painting and here is my personal story. From childhood to young age my paining material consume was high, higher than my consumption of snacks! I have always loved to paint, to give life to my thoughts, dreams and the hidden universe! I was 12 or maybe 13 years old when the universe offered me to find my painting master! Every Thursday after school I had my course with her, in her studio, which was a penthouse full of colors, canvases, tripods and loads of books. I can still clearly remember the smell of paint in that place. I loved that place, it meant freedom to me. Each time that I visited her, I know that I can open my heart and welcome the creativity. The only disadvantage was the fact the I had to clean the brushes after painting!

It was not only about putting the colours on the canvas. Through painting, I learned to see differently with my eyes and to limit the influence of other’s opinion.

As Sohrab, an amazing contemporaneous Persian poet, says:

Eyes must be washed
Things must be seen differently
Words must be washed
Words must be the wind by themselves
Words must be the rain by themselves
Umbrellas should be closed!
We should go under the rain

Later paining become a strong need, I had/have enough color and canvas at home, it become a way to express myself, where the words were not enough to explain. It became a yearning of my soul.
With time, I learned how to use it as a medium to connect to my inner self and strengthen my capacity of observation. Each painting becomes a unique journey of healing & discovery, bringing me from one shore to the other side of the ocean. And now colours are still giving me life and energy, and painting becomes a dynamic meditation with a permanent colourful sign.

‘Abdu’l-Bahá said: “All Art is a gift of the Holy Spirit. When this light shines through the mind of a musician, it manifests itself in beautiful harmonies. Again, shining through the mind of a poet, it is seen in fine poetry and poetic prose. When the Light of the Sun of Truth inspires the mind of a painter, he produces marvellous pictures. These gifts are fulfilling their highest purpose, when showing forth the praise of God.”
